Week 1 · 31 Aug–6 Sep 2026
Five steps, about five minutes.
The Weekly Split runs inside Steppa, an iOS app. You’ll need an iPhone, a few minutes to set up Apple Health, and a card. If you’ve done it once, joining a future edition takes about thirty seconds.
Or paste this invite into a browser after you have the app:

I host this challenge and am paid a 5% creator fee, charged by Steppa on top of each entry. I earn that fee whether or not you finish. Disclosure.
-
Install Steppa and make an account
The App Store listing is iPhone-only. Search “Steppa” there, or use that link. Sign up with your email in the app. Steppa’s terms still mention Google Play in boilerplate. We treat the live listing as the practical truth and re-check it.
If you were sent here by someone, enter their referral code during Steppa signup. Steppa’s programme issues promotional credit toward entry fees, not withdrawable cash. Amounts are shown in the app. How referrals and our bonuses work.
-
Give Steppa access to Apple Health
This is the step people rush and regret. Steppa doesn’t count your steps. It reads them from Apple Health. If permissions aren’t granted, nothing you walk will register.
When prompted, turn on Steps. If you skipped the prompt: Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Steppa → enable Steps.
Using a Fitbit, Garmin, Oura or WHOOP? They can count only if the device writes step data into Apple Health, and that hand-off is the single most common reason people lose a stake. During a paid week, keep your iPhone on you or wear an Apple Watch. Treat a third-party wearable as a backup, never as your only tracker. Steppa’s terms go further: you waive any dispute based on alternative tracking sources, including Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, WHOOP, manual counts, and screenshots from other apps. If it did not write to Health, you have no appeal. -
Open the invite, or search Discover
The reliable path is the invite. After Steppa is installed, tap it, or paste it into Safari:

The Weekly Split No. 1Confirm the listing title is exactly The Weekly Split No. 1. Anyone can name a challenge anything.
Week 1 join window is Saturday 29 August through Sunday 30 August. Walking starts Monday 31 August and ends Sunday 6 September. If you can’t find it, the window is closed.

Read the fee screen
Steppa itemises your costs before you confirm. Actually read it. You should see something like:
Your stake (goes into the prize pool)$70.00Steppa service feeshown in appHost fee (paid to us)$3.50Total chargedon that screenIf those numbers don’t match what we’ve published, trust the app. The app is the binding version. The 5% host fee is $3.50 on a $70 stake, the rate I set in the create flow. The processing fee stays “shown in app.”

Confirm
You’re in. The challenge starts on the listed date, measured in your local time zone as recorded when you joined. Each day runs to midnight your local time.
Steppa lets you hold only one active challenge at a time. You can queue the next one during the final days of your current one, which is exactly why our join window opens on Saturday.
What happens during the week
- Open the app once a day. Background syncing is unreliable if you force-quit it from the app switcher. Don’t swipe it closed.
- Don’t uninstall it mid-challenge: deleting your account during a challenge forfeits the stake, which stays in the pool. Don’t switch phones or sign out of iCloud without checking your Health data moved.
- Check your count before bed, not at midnight. A missing day can’t be recovered.
- We post standings Wednesday and Friday, and a danger list on Friday for anyone one bad day from losing their stake.
If something goes wrong
Email support@playsteppa.com straight away: before the challenge ends if at all possible. Steppa may refund an entry fee or issue credit for technical failures they verify, but that door narrows fast, and results can only be disputed within seven days of the end date. Send Apple Health screenshots. Fitbit or Garmin screenshots are not an appeal.
The sync guide is how to put the Health packet together. We can’t overturn a ruling (nobody outside Steppa can). If Steppa declines a verified technical failure, our goodwill policy may cover the host fee and a free next entry, within a published cap.
